Fort Myers Fishing Report 12/18

With the waters cooled down, the Sheepshead are starting to move in. Live shrimp is the bait of choice for most anglers as they are readily available in most tackle shops. There have also been some small redfish being caught in the backbay areas of Estero Bay, Sanibel Island, and Matlacha.  The Mangrove Snapper bite has been productive in the backbay as well. Despite all of the publicity about the Red Tide in Fort Myers, many fish survived and are ready to eat whatever you put in front of them. Season is here in Southwest Florida and now is the time to help our struggling economy by visiting this beautiful area. Dont hesitate to take a vacation to Sanibel Island or Fort Myers Beach and get out on the water. As of today, 12/19/2018 FWC's Red Tide report states that there is no Red Tide present in Lee and Collier Counties.
