6 Hour Nearshore Fishing Charter

Intro / Overview
Join Captain Drew for a private 6-hour nearshore fishing charter departing from Punta Rassa Boat Ramp in Fort Myers, near Sanibel Island. This trip is designed for anglers who want to leave the back bays and fish nearshore Gulf waters, reefs, wrecks, structure, and coastal areas when weather and sea conditions allow.

This Fort Myers nearshore fishing charter is a great option for guests staying in Fort Myers, Sanibel, Fort Myers Beach, Cape Coral, Captiva, Estero, Iona, and surrounding Southwest Florida areas.

What We Target on Nearshore Trips
When conditions allow, nearshore trips often focus on structure, reefs, wrecks, and coastal waters for snapper, Spanish mackerel, sharks, cobia, Goliath grouper, and other seasonal species. The exact target species can change with water temperature, bait, regulations, tides, and time of year, so Captain Drew adjusts each trip around the best available bite.

Who This Trip Is Best For
A 6-hour nearshore charter is a good fit for anglers who want to fish outside the inshore creeks, mangroves, and bays while still staying relatively close to shore.

This trip is best for groups who:

  • Want to fish Gulf waters instead of staying strictly inshore

  • Are comfortable with more motion than a calm back-bay trip

  • Want a shot at hard-fighting fish around reefs, wrecks, and structure

  • Understand that wind, waves, and weather control the nearshore plan

Families with older kids, groups of friends, and anglers who have already done inshore fishing around Fort Myers and Sanibel often enjoy this option.

What’s Included
Your nearshore charter includes a private 6-hour trip, licensed captain, boat, fuel, safety gear, rods, reels, tackle, bait when available, fishing licenses, ice, and bottled water. Cleaning and bagging of legal keeper fish is included when regulations allow.

You are welcome to bring snacks, personal drinks, sunscreen, sunglasses, a hat, and a light jacket for breezy days.

Honest Notes on Weather and Conditions
Nearshore fishing is always weather and sea-condition dependent. Even when the back bays are calm, the Gulf can be choppy or uncomfortable. The exact distance we run and the areas we fish depend on wind, waves, tides, water clarity, bait, regulations, and the safest available conditions.

Goliath grouper, sharks, and other larger fish are common nearshore targets, but they are never guaranteed. Some days may offer great action, while other days require adjusting the plan based on what the Gulf allows.

If conditions are not safe or reasonable for a nearshore run, Captain Drew will discuss the best options with you, which may include staying closer to shore, adjusting the fishing plan, switching to inshore waters, or rescheduling when needed.

Departure Location
All nearshore trips depart from Punta Rassa Boat Ramp in Fort Myers, just before the Sanibel Causeway. This location gives us quick access to Sanibel, Fort Myers Beach, inshore waters, and nearshore Gulf fishing areas.
